The artists

As usual TADASHI ENDO and his MAMU DANCE THEATRE will perform at the opening evening of the festival. The MAMU DANCE THEATRE was founded in 1992 by Tadashi Endo. The following dancers are performing in this production: Fran Barbe (Aus), Yael Karavan (Israel), Esther Hoyuelos (E), Irmela Wiemann (D), Yumino Seki (Jp).

ANZU FURUKAWA was a member of the famous Japanese Butoh-company Dai Raku Da Kan lead by Akaji Maro. Since 20 years she is living in Germany, she had the position of a professor for performing arts at the HBK Braunschweig and became very famous as solodancer touring all around the world.

YUMIKO YOSHIOKA was a Student of Akaji Maro, member of ARIADONE, led by Carlotta Ikeda. Together with Minako Seki she founded TATOEBA. In her performances she likes to involve different kinds of arts like installations, sculptures, music, video and a very grotesque and expressive kind of Butoh-dance.

MUTSUKO TANAKA is the leading dancer of the Company buto-sha TENKEI which was founded by Ebisu Torii. They both have been members of Dai Raku Da Kan. Her dance is wellknown to be of an extraodinary sensitivity and deep expression.

CARLOTTA IKEDA is the grand lady of the Butoh-dance. She also has been a member of Dai Raku Da Kan. Now she lives in Bordeaux/France since about 25 years. She is the leader of ARIADONE, the famous and only female butoh-company with whom she has been touring all around the worid. But she has her greatest successes as a solodancer. It is nearly impossible to find another dancer with her clear movements and that intensity of her expression.

For the Jazz-concert we invited an ensemble which is well-known to be of highest level: URS LEIMGRUBER (sax), JAQUES DEMIERRE (piano) and BARRE PHILLIPS (bass). This concert will be a real highlight of free-jazz. The second part of this concert is hiding some big surprises.
